Showing off my new Bulgarian-style maternity overalls

We finally got one of all three of us

Oh the things that happen when your husband gets tired of setting the timer and then posing for the picture...

In love already

It's very hard to blog when you don't feel like you have anything to say... or, in my case, to show. However, we've recently been on a picture taking spree... hence the title.

It's late, so I won't make this particular post a long one, but Joe took some pictures this evening that we wanted to share...

Orion

The pictures don't do it justice, but Joe had a lot of fun playing with the camera settings. Our camera's longest shutter speed is only 30 seconds, so he couldn't capture any of the fainter stars.

Big dipper

It must be a new moon tonight because our lunar friend is nowhere to be found. That means, though, that we can see the stars wonderfully from behind our house. The Milky Way's river of stars through the sky is impossible to miss.
For those of you who haven't heard the news, we're moving back to the States at the end of April. I'll be a grand 33 weeks pregnant with an approximately 4.5 lb, 19 inch bundle of joy snuggled up in my ever-expanding belly when we fly over the Atlantic.

Today we pulled out the suitcases and began the sorting process: what stays, what goes, what gets thrown away, what can we sell or give away... it's a long process! We won't actually have our clothes packed for a few weeks yet, but things like books and souvenirs we can get started on now. The hardest part of packing to move via plane travel is distributing the weight evenly to make sure all of your bags are less than 50 lbs. You'd be surprised how quickly it adds up!

Just a few minutes ago I heard bells outside our window. I looked up, and...

Baaaa....

The two little lambs were so cute!

Joe and I didn't mind the visit, but when our guests started chomping down on the sprouting spring flowers, we decided to tell them to go. We put our shepherding skills to use and corralled them out of yard and up onto the mountain, where they seem quite content to roam.

Joe!

He's another year older, but he says he feels the same as yesterday. Thanks to everyone for all of the birthday greetings and well wishes.

As a 23 year old, Joe was able to:
-live outside the US
-eat chicken lung
-celebrate his 2 year wedding anniversary
-become a "dad-to-be"
-learn the basics of Bulgarian
-make many homemade pizzas
-become an expert at building a fire in a wood stove
-learn to "like" coffee
-visit four countries that he hasn't been to before
-be a best man in a wedding
-write his first blog post

...to the snow, and hello spring!

That being said, Joe took a few pictures on a recent snow day that I wanted to share, so here they are...

We had a bunch of friends over our house this morning for a meeting and lunch. It was so nice outside that we moved the chairs onto the patio. I think I might have even gotten a light sunburn!

We've been quiet for a while now! Our schedule is filling up now that we're on the "home stretch" part of our journey, but we're glad to have things to keep us busy. Unfortunately, I'm under quarantine for the second time this season with a cold, so I figured I would break the "awkward silence" on the blog and attempt to be productive, even from under the covers.

Some general updates:
- For those of you who don't get our newsletter, we will be returning to the States at the end of April. After visiting with friends and family in Virginia, we'll make the trek back to Ohio with a quick stop through Pennsylvania.
- As long as everything goes as planned, the baby will be born in Ohio. The due date is June 16th. And, in case you're wondering, we won't be announcing gender or name until after the baby's born.
- We've finally been able to connect with a language tutor here to get some more structure in our language learning. She has been so helpful!
- We continue to assist Lamar and Pat with things that they're involved in. This includes leading meetings and organizing a children's choir. For more, read our newsletter!
- Spring is on the way... finally! After our warm, sunny spell about a month ago, we had a cold snap. We went almost a whole month without direct sunlight, and we've had snow off and on. We're looking forward to the sunny days and warm temperatures that spring often brings.
